Vincent Galluccio - Proprietor

GRISTINA GALLUCCIO: Vince was born and raised in Brooklyn's Cobble Hill neighborhood. Wine was always on the dinner table and each fall the smell of fermenting grapes wafted up through the floor from the basement. Like many first generation Italian families, the Galluccios bought grapes and made a little home wine in the basement. Vince fondly remembers helping both his grandfathers crush the grapes and tasting the fresh grape juice. "In our house, the children got a shot glass full of wine in the winter before they left for school, to make the blood strong. If we had a cold, it was hot wine with honey and spices, that was the remedy. Wine was always a part of the fabric of our daily lives." An international businessman who lived and worked for many years in Europe, first for IBM, then British Telecom, and most recently as managing director of Metromedia Fiber Network, Galluccio has long dreamed of owning a vineyard. He studied winemaking in Bordeaux and Burgundy. He looked at properties in Tuscany and southern France, but decided to come home to New York to fulfill the dream. (from the Vince Galluccio's site)
